A simple search like “NYT best books 2026” would send me through dozens of SEO-heavy blogs, clickbait lists, and repetitive recommendations without actually helping me find what I wanted to read next.
Most of the time, I didn’t want “the most popular book.” I wanted the right book for a specific moment:
