Zoom is improving its video chat platform with their latest feature, "Notes," which allows users to create, share, and edit text documents in real-time during a video call, eliminating the need to switch screens to use other third party content management tools like Microsoft Word. You can set up and collaborate on Notes before, during, and/or after a meeting with extensive formatting options such as fonts, styles, bullets, colors, images, links, and more, and all content will be auto-saved.
The Notes dashboard also offers various capabilities including sorting, filtering, sharing, starring for later reference, and direct editing or deleting. Zoom Notes will be provided to all users free of charge and is slated to roll out in the near future.
Zoom is actively seeking to remain relevant as one of the most comprehensive alternatives to giants like Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. They offer solutions not only for video meetings or online webinars but also for team chat (an alternative to Slack or Teams), email, calendars, digital whiteboard, and a variety of other team collaboration tools within Zoom One, alongside their focus on integrating AI-powered features into many of these tools, such as Meeting Summaries or Chat Compose, which we reported on some time ago and recommend checking out.
