Hi Product Hunters, I’m Julia, the founder of Zidisha, a loan crowdfunding platform for entrepreneurs in developing countries. Our key approach is to bypass the local banks used by other microlending websites, and connect lenders and borrowers directly via a P2P community. This allows us to reduce the administrative cost of the loans relative to traditional programs and enable unfiltered communication between lenders and borrowers.
Our new Pay It Forward program is microlending with a twist: instead of repaying lenders, the entrepreneurs repay their loans by funding other entrepreneurs on the platform. This gives entrepreneurs a more direct stake in the process, removes the burden from lenders to return to the platform to relend their funds, and preserves the recycling of funds into new projects which makes microlending such a high-impact way to help.
Pay It Forward Monthly (https://www.zidisha.org/forward-...) is a way to automatically support a new entrepreneur each month. You can either choose the entrepreneur yourself, or allow us to allocate the funds to an entrepreneur in need. Then you receive monthly updates with messages from the entrepreneurs you helped and watch your impact grow as your funds are paid forward to new projects.
