Hi Product Hunt! I’m Vitaly, Youta’s creator. Youta is a free audio player written in Rust and released as open source under the MIT license. It brings YouTube, YouTube Music, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, podcasts, radio, audiobooks and local files into terminal and desktop interfaces. Both share playlists, queues and saved listening positions, so you can return to a long recording where you stopped. Subscriptions are managed locally, with OPML import/export. Setup requires mpv and yt-dlp; YouTube search also needs an API key or an Invidious instance. I’d love feedback on installation, everyday listening and which sources you use most.

Who hunted Youta?

Youta was hunted by Vitaly Zdanevich. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
