YILA
Codex for research: real papers, editable figures, data chat
YILA is the Codex for research: an AI research agent with paper databases and research skills built in, so there’s nothing to set up. Ask in plain words, and it searches real papers across OpenAlex, PubMed, arXiv, Google Scholar and CNKI, writes literature reviews that link back to their sources, analyzes your data by running Python or R code you can inspect, and turns your work into editable figures, posters and slides that stay faithful to your papers.
Hi Product Hunt! I'm Roxy, a university professor and co-founder of YILA.
I teach AI and data analysis to grad students. This year I asked my class three questions:
• Who uses an AI agent for research? About 20%.
• Who knows how to install research skills? Fewer than 5%.
• Who can connect an agent to a paper database? Just one student.
I tried teaching the setup in class. It didn't work. My students came to do research, not to become half an engineer.
So we built YILA: a Codex-style research agent with paper databases and research skills already built in. No setup. Just say what you need.
What makes it different:
• Real papers, not guesses. It searches OpenAlex, PubMed, arXiv and more, and reviews link back to their sources.
• Real code for your data. It writes and runs Python or R you can inspect, so every number is traceable.
• Outputs you can keep editing. Figures, posters and slides stay faithful to your papers, and you can change any part of them.
I believe that if an AI agent needs a training course, it isn't finished yet. That's the bar we're building toward.
Researchers, drop your research topic below. I'd love to hear where YILA gets it right, and especially where it gets it wrong.
P.S. 10% off any paid plan with code YILA10.

Who hunted YILA?
YILA was hunted by Roxy. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
