Xestando PDF Viewer
Ask, translate, listen to and sign PDFs in your language
Xestando replaces Chrome’s PDF viewer for remote, local and embedded files. Open, fill, download and sign PDFs; translate them into your language; listen with text-to-speech; and ask questions using Chrome’s on-device Prompt API. It remembers reading progress, detects invoices locally and can create a reviewed expense in Xestando with the PDF attached. Documents move directly in memory—no automatic uploads, ads, tracking or remote code. Cloud actions run only when requested. Chrome 151+.
Hi Product Hunt 👋
I built Xestando PDF Viewer because opening a PDF should not mean downloading it, uploading it to another service, and losing context just to translate, understand, or sign it.
The extension becomes Chrome's PDF handler and passes the document directly in memory to Xestando. The latest release adds Ask this PDF through Chrome's Prompt API: the model runs on-device, so questions and document text stay in the browser. Translation, language detection, and text-to-speech also use local browser and system capabilities.
You can also fill forms, sign, and turn invoices into expenses. Nothing is uploaded automatically; cloud or account actions happen only after an explicit click.
It requires Chrome 151+ because it uses Chrome's newer PDF handler and built-in AI APIs. I would love feedback on which PDF workflows feel most useful and where the local-first approach could go next.
