Hey Product Hunt 👋
Writely started as a simple idea: I wanted to build my own version of Google Docs.
But as I worked on it, I realised that copying every feature was not the most useful direction. Instead of building another complicated document editor, I started asking a different question:
How can I make writing feel calmer and help people stay focused?
That changed the direction of the project.
Slowly, Writely became a focused writing workspace with autosave, browser recovery, formatting tools, document export, and optional AI assistance.
The AI is deliberately kept in the background. It only processes the passage you select together with your instruction, rather than automatically using the rest of the document.
Writely is currently free and in public beta. I would especially appreciate feedback on:
• How the editor feels during longer writing sessions
• Whether saving and recovery feel reliable
• Whether the selected-text AI workflow is useful
• Anything confusing, slow, or broken on mobile or desktop
