Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I’m thrilled to introduce WriteFlow.
What inspired me & the problem I was trying to solve:
As a student and a developer, I spend hours staring at screens reading heavy documentation, PDFs, and long-form text. I found myself constantly losing focus, rereading the same lines, or dealing with eye strain. I wanted a tool that forced me into a state of deep work, but existing solutions were either bloated with features I didn't need, required expensive monthly subscriptions, or processed my private documents on their servers.
I built WriteFlow to solve my own focus problem.
What it is:
WriteFlow is a distraction-free reading and text-to-speech (TTS) engine. It uses kinetic text highlighting and a custom typography system to guide your eyes and anchor your attention, making it incredibly easy to consume long documents without losing your place.
How the approach evolved:
What started as a simple local coding experiment evolved into a strict "privacy-first" challenge. I decided to build the entire engine using pure, vanilla HTML/CSS/JS. No heavy frameworks and no backend servers reading your data.
Local-First: Your documents and text never leave your browser.
Bring Your Own Keys (BYOK): If you want premium AI voices via the "Perfect Sync" TTS feature, your API keys are stored strictly in your local storage.
Offline Ready: It is structured as a PWA, so you can install it and use it entirely offline.
