WorkSnap

Time tracking for freelancers who bill by the hour

A time tracker for freelancers who bill by the hour. Timer or manual entry, projects and clients, hourly rates that inherit, reports over any date range, exports to CSV, XLSX and PDF. Free, permanently — there's no paid plan and there never will be one.

Hi PH 👋 I'm a solo developer and I bill clients by the hour. In April my time tracker moved hourly rates, CSV export and unlimited report ranges into its paid plan. Rates aren't a nice-to-have for me — they're the reason I open a tracker at all. So I built the small version I actually needed. WorkSnap does four things: track time (timer or manual), organise it by project and client, apply hourly rates that inherit profile → client → project, and give you reports and exports you can invoice from. That's the whole product. Two things I want to be upfront about: - It's deliberately small. No teams, no tags, no integrations, no invoicing, no API, no native app, and no employee monitoring of any kind. If you need those, this is the wrong tool and I'd rather you knew now. - If you've used Clockify, the layout will feel familiar. That's intentional — those conventions are good and you shouldn't have to relearn a timer to keep your rates. There's no import though, so old history stays where it is. It's free, there is no paid plan, and there will never be one — which is the actual argument, because free plans get cut when they compete with a paid one and there's nothing here to protect. Nothing you use today can be moved behind a payment tomorrow. Analytics are self-hosted in the EU, there's no cookie banner and no third-party scripts anywhere on the site. On how that's sustainable, since it always comes up: I've been freelancing for years and I still bill by the hour, so my income comes from client work, not from this. It stayed small enough that running it costs me very little, and keeping it available to other people who work the same way is something I can afford to do. I'll be here all day. Tell me what's missing — especially if it's something I said I wouldn't build.
