I've spent over a decade teaching English as a foreign language, working with students across the world, including corporate clients in energy and finance who needed fluency for real business, not just exam certificates. Across all of that time, one pattern kept repeating. The students who improved fastest were the ones reading things they actually cared about: news articles, forums, novels, whatever pulled them in. Immersion works. But I watched motivated learners quietly give it up, again and again, for the same dull reason. Every unknown word meant stopping, opening a new tab, typing it into a translator, copying the result, then hunting for their place in the text again. A few words per page and that friction adds up. Reading stops being reading and starts being a chore. I ran into the same wall myself. I'd sit down to read something for genuine enjoyment, hit an unfamiliar word within a sentence or two, and lose the thread rebuilding my train of thought after every lookup. I kept a vocabulary list by hand to track new words, and even that process pulled me out of the text every time. None of the existing tools solved this properly. Browser dictionaries either interrupted the page with a popup that covered half the text, or required switching to a separate tab entirely. Nothing let the translation sit quietly where the word already was, so you could keep reading without your eyes ever leaving the page. So I built the tool I actually wanted for my own reading, and for the students I'd watched give up on immersion for years. Hover the word, see the translation embedded right there, click to save it if it's worth keeping. The idea was to get technology completely out of the way and leave only the reading and the learning, which is what should have been happening the whole time.
