Woodshedding

This is a music app to help you practice and progress.

Woodshedding puts a practice timer, metronome, tuner, and audio recorder in one app. Set a 15-minute session, lock in your tempo, tune up, and record ideas before they disappear. Track your streaks, rate your sessions, and actually see yourself improving over time. The design is inspired by guitar hardware — dark, warm, and built to stay out of your way. Free to use, with a premium tier for advanced features. iOS only (for now).

Hey everyone 👋 I'm Sean — web designer by trade, guitarist by nature. I built Woodshedding because I kept plateauing, sitting down to practise with no real structure. I'd jam for an hour, call it practice, and wonder why nothing was really improving. Then I noticed something meditation apps had already figured out. Short, focused sessions with a clear intention. Track your progress for consistency and build the habit. I applied that same framework to music. The idea is simple: treat your practice the way you'd treat a meditation session. Set a time. Choose a focus. Show up. Do the work. Track it. Repeat. Hey everyone 👋 I'm Sean — web designer by trade, guitarist by obsession. Here's what's in the app: 🎯 Practice timer with presets, or a quick timer with no end time for tracking jams and writing 🎵 Metronome with tap tempo, 8 time signatures, subdivisions, and swing feels 🎸 Tuner with 17 presets — guitar, bass, ukulele, banjo & capo support 🎙️ Audio recorder with synced count-in, an optional warmth filter and looped playback 📊 Session tracking, streaks, goals, and practice stats The whole thing is free to use. Premium unlocks some advanced features (alternate tunings, swing feels, warmth filter, unlimited goals, full stats history) with a 2-week trial. I designed the UI to kind of feel like recording hardware — dark background, amber LEDs, tactile controls. If you've ever stared at outboard gear, that's kind of the vibe I'm going for. This is a solo project and my first iOS app, so I'd genuinely love your feedback. What works? What doesn't? What's missing? I'm building this for musicians who actually want to get better, and the best way to make it useful is to hear from you. Thanks for checking it out 🤘
