Hi everyone, I’m Iggy Love, a multidisciplinary designer and engineer. I started WOB after visiting boat shows in Poland and Oslo and noticing a massive gap in how we access the water. Most boats are monolithic, expensive, and require a trailer or a permanent berth. On the other end, you have paddleboards that are portable but solitary and cramped. I wanted to create something that offered the stability of a boat with the logistics of a bicycle. The core of WOB is a 3×3 modular grid. I spent a lot of time in Rhino and Blender balancing the physics—it had to be light enough for a car roof (41.5kg frame) but stable enough to stand on. One of the most interesting parts of the process was taking 3D-printed miniatures to boat shows to talk with marina builders, which helped me refine the 'Quick-Pin' hardware for tool-less assembly in under 8 minutes. Beyond the hardware, I built a browser-based sailing simulator so people could feel the unique hand-crank steering intuition before a full-scale build. My goal is to treat naval architecture more like an open operating system where modules can be 3D-printed from recycled plastics. I’m curious to hear from the community: when you think about water recreation, what is the biggest 'friction' that keeps you on the shore?
