WM Keyboard
A modern, privacy-first, and feature-rich Android keyboard.
An open source Android keyboard where everything smart runs on your phone. Glide typing, prediction, voice typing and AI rewriting all work offline, so nothing you type leaves your device. 800+ languages with phonetic typing support for many, 80+ built-in tools like clipboard history, translate, a scanner, gifs, stickers, and themes you design yourself. Also supports importing from existing keyboards and services. Free, MIT licensed, no ads, no tracking.
Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Wasi, the maker of WM Keyboard.
A keyboard is the one app that sees everything you write: your messages, your passwords, the drafts you deleted before sending. Somewhere along the way the popular keyboards decided that was a business model. Predictions got better, and the price was a copy of your keystrokes going to someone else's server.
The private keyboards that refused that deal were mostly forks of the same decade-old Android code. Good intentions, but no glide typing without a proprietary blob, no real expansive feature set, and almost nothing for the language I actually type in. Bangla was an afterthought everywhere.
So I wrote one from scratch in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, with three goals:
1. Type Bangla the way I and all of Bangladesh is used to, and do the same for every language I could, so everyone can type in the input systems they're already used to.
2. Keep the tools I reach for all day (clipboard, snippets, translate, calculator, scanner) inside the text field.
3. Keep all of it on the phone. Prediction, glide, translate, voice and the AI tools run offline. Put it in airplane mode and everything still works.
It grew from there: 826 languages, 80+ tools, semantic emoji search in 126 languages, stickers from your own photos, and themes you build yourself. Switching is easy, it can import backups, layouts, themes, and dictionaries from Gboard, HeliBoard, FlorisBoard, FUTO, and more
Switching shouldn't mean starting over, so it brings your old keyboard with you. Restore a whole backup from HeliBoard, FUTO, FlorisBoard, CleverKeys or AnySoftKeyboard and pick what comes across. Import your Gboard dictionary and shortcuts. Bring snippets from Espanso, and layouts from Keyman, Unexpected Keyboard, Heliboard, FUTO, FlorisBoard, Multiling, Keys Cafe, Windows, macOS and Linux.
It's free, MIT-licensed, and on Google Play, F-Droid, and GitHub.
I'd love to hear:
• Which language do you type in, and how well does it work?
• Which keyboard are you coming from, and did you find everything that you had in your old keyboard?
• What's the one feature that would make you switch keyboards that WMK is missing?
I'll be here all day answering questions. Thanks for checking it out! 🙏
