Hi everyone 👋
I built WindowSeat because I'm a nervous flyer. Not in a cute way, in a "I've googled 'what causes turbulence' 400 times" kind of way. Every flight I spend the whole journey tense. The thing that helps me is looking at maps. Knowing I am over Austria, or crossing into France, or above England gives my brain something to do other than catastrophise. Curiosity is really good at crowding out fear.
So I built the app to help myself. You can either plan a trip or simply open it through a flight, it finds you via GPS, and tells you what you are crossing and what's below you, and shares something interesting about it. There's also a section with reassuring facts about how flying actually works, for when the turbulence hits and your brain goes to worst case.
It works on trains and car trips too, which I also love. But honestly the whole thing started because I wanted to survive a flight without white knuckling it the entire way.
It's completely free, no account needed, works offline and at altitude.
Would genuinely love to hear from other nervous flyers or anyone who's ever looked out a plane window and wondered what they were flying over.
Thanks for checking it out.
