WillItLayer.com uses AI to analyse how two scents interact - from note structure to dry-down - then returns a compatibility score and exact application guidance (order, placement, ratio). Users can register and upload their shelf (via AI vision) to find combinations or generate new pairings from a single fragrance.
I built this one Sunday morning because I love and collect fragrances, but layering them always felt like hype and guesswork
Everything online leans subjective - “this works,” “this doesn’t” - but rarely explains why. After wasting money on combinations that either clashed or just disappeared into each other, it felt like there should be a more structured way to approach it.
The idea behind Will It Layer? is simple: treat layering like something that can be tested and understood. Use AI to break down how notes interact, where things conflict, and how to apply combinations properly so they actually work on the skin. Then make it simple and elegant to explore the combinations.
Also wanted to avoid the usual noise in this space - hype, aesthetics, cost, gendered or age-related framing - and focus on something more neutral and usable.
If it helps people get more out of what they already own (instead of buying more blindly), that’s a good outcome!
