I'm launching "Why Am I Here?" (a Chrome extension for intentional browsing). Here's the story:
I noticed a pattern in how I (and honestly, everyone I know) work: you open a tab for one thing, and suddenly three hours evaporated in a rabbit hole you never intended to enter. Not because you're undisciplined, but because the browser doesn't help you stay aligned with what you actually set out to do.
Most solutions are either heavy (fancy dashboards, app blockers, screen time trackers) or they miss the point entirely. What if the tool just asked you what you're trying to do, and gently flagged when you were drifting?
Why Am I Here? does exactly that:
- You set a browsing goal when you start a session
- The extension tracks whether your open tabs align with that goal
- You get a soft nudge when you've drifted, not a hard block
- Everything stays local and private. It's just you and your browser
This is a free, open Chrome extension. No tracking, no SaaS, no friction. Just a question mark icon asking "why are you here?" when you need it.
