I built this because every "HTML to image" API I priced out wanted $15–25/month before I'd rendered a single image — for something that's really just headless Chrome taking a screenshot. So here's the free version.
Paste HTML in one box, CSS in another, get back a real PNG/JPEG/WebP/AVIF, or an SVG-wrapped export — actual server-side Puppeteer rendering, not a canvas hack. Free tier needs no sign-in: PNG, up to 800×800, 10 renders/day.
The part I actually enjoyed building: Vercel functions cold-start, and launching headless Chromium from scratch is the expensive part of that — so the render endpoint now reuses one browser across warm requests instead of relaunching it every time, plus a small priority queue so paid tiers aren't stuck behind free ones under load. And if one external image is slow, it no longer fails the whole render — it ships whatever loaded in time and flags it.
Good for: OG/share images generated from real data, quick social crops without opening a design tool, turning an HTML invoice or certificate template into a downloadable image.
