The open-source video editor your AI agent can drive
WeftCut is a free, open-source desktop video editor your AI agent can control through MCP. Connect your agent to trim clips, add captions, build animations from code, and edit a real timeline while you watch. Review changes, undo, or take over by hand. Available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Hi Product Hunt! I'm UncleChair, the maker of WeftCut.
I wanted an editor my AI agent could actually drive, with a timeline I could keep watching and refining by hand. That's why I built WeftCut.
Connect your existing MCP-compatible agent to trim clips, add captions, and animate elements in the same project you're viewing. Changes appear live, with an activity log and checkpoints you can restore.
My favorite part is Motifs: animations written in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript that become editable layers on your timeline. An agent can build an overlay for your footage, and you can adjust its exposed controls in the editor.
WeftCut is free and open source, with builds for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It's still in active development, and I'd love feedback on the editing workflow and agent connection experience.
What would you want your agent to handle in your next video edit?
