Hi Product Hunt. I built Wefaqna because the options my community had were either dating apps with a halal label on them, or matrimonial sites that read like classified ads. Muslim marriage usually involves family. Most apps treat that as friction to design around. We treat it as the point - but optional: you decide how involved your family is, from not at all, to a guardian who can follow the conversation. A few decisions that made it different: - No public photos. Profiles lead with values and character, and photos are shared only after both sides agree. - Every profile is reviewed before it goes live, and identities are verified. - One conversation at a time. You cannot keep twelve chats running. It sounds restrictive, and it is the single thing that makes people take it seriously. - Free. No subscription, no paywalled messaging. Arabic, English, French and German, with a few thousand members - mostly Egypt and the Gulf, plus a growing diaspora. Happy to answer anything, especially from people who have built for communities that existing apps design past.
