Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Mihai, maker of WaxLab.
Why I built this: If you make and sell candles in the EU, you're legally required to put a CLP label on every product — hazard pictograms, warning phrases, allergen lists, the works. Getting it right means digging through each fragrance supplier's safety documentation (SDS, IFRA, allergen declarations), figuring out which hazards still apply at your fragrance concentration, and formatting it all correctly. Most makers do this with spreadsheets, guesswork, or by paying a consultant for every single label. I watched candle makers spend hours on paperwork for something that should take minutes.
How it works: Upload your fragrance documentation → WaxLab extracts the safety data automatically → you get a compliant CLP label for your finished product at any concentration, with a live label designer and PDF export.
What it grew into: While building the CLP engine, I kept hearing "okay, but can it also...?" from early users. So WaxLab now covers the whole workflow:
🧪 Fragrance load, fill weight & burn time calculators
📖 A recipe book with real cost-per-candle tracking (materials, suppliers, purchase history, even mold amortization)
🎨 Blend labels — CLP for mixes of up to 10 fragrances, with proper substance-level merging (this one was a direct user request, shipped last week)
🌍 Works for candles, wax melts, soaps, diffusers and room sprays
The biggest lesson: compliance tools live or die on trust. We err on the conservative side everywhere — if two safety documents conflict, we take the stricter interpretation, because a label that's "probably fine" isn't fine.
I'd love to hear from any makers here — what's the most painful part of your labeling/costing workflow? And if you try WaxLab, I'll personally read every piece of feedback. 🕯️
