WalkieDog
Track your dog walks with GPS, routes, and per-dog history
WalkieDog tracks your dog walks with GPS precision. Select your dogs, hit start, and it records your route, distance, duration, and steps in real-time. It keeps working in the background, recovers from GPS signal loss, and saves every walk per dog. Review past routes on a map, manage dog profiles with breeds, and share walk summaries. Solo-built with Flutter and Go. Android only for now.

Hey everyone! I'm Diego, the solo developer behind WalkieDog. I built this app to push myself out of my comfort zone and learn new technologies. I'd never worked with Flutter, Go, or real-time GPS tracking before — so I picked a project that would force me to figure all of that out. Dog walks seemed like the perfect excuse. What started as a learning project turned into a real product. The GPS tracking alone taught me more than I expected — handling signal loss in tunnels, rejecting outlier spikes, surviving Android's aggressive battery optimizations, and building a Kalman filter to smooth noisy positions. All problems I didn't know existed until I started walking with the app. The whole thing is a true solo project — Flutter frontend, Go backend, design, deployment, everything done by me. Some things I'm proud of: Smart GPS that handles real-world chaos (tunnels, urban canyons, signal drops) Per-dog walk history with full route replay Quick Walk button so you can start tracking in 2 taps Walk sharing as a clean image with map, stats, and dog names It's Android only for now. I'd love to hear your feedback — what would you want to see next? And if you walk dogs, give it a try and let me know how the GPS holds up in your area. Thanks for checking it out!
