Hi Product Hunt. VoxScribe for Android is voice typing that never leaves your phone.

A small floating button shows up when you tap a text box, in any app, above whatever keyboard you already use. Hold it or tap it, talk, and your words are typed into the box. The speech model runs on the phone itself, so it keeps working in airplane mode and your voice is never uploaded. There is no account and no subscription.

It started as a Windows dictation app, also free and open source, and people kept asking for the same thing on their phones. The Android app has voice commands like "scratch that" to take back the last dictation, word replacements for names it keeps mishearing (you can import the same list from the Windows app), an optional "send it" that taps the Send button in chat apps, and file transcription that turns audio and video files into text or SRT captions, all on the phone. It hides itself in password and PIN boxes.

For privacy, the exact list of what touches the network is on one page: https://voxscribe-ai-voice-dicta.... In short, your audio and your text never leave the phone. The app checks GitHub for new versions and sends one anonymous usage ping a day (app version, OS version, a random ID), which you can turn off in Settings.

Everything above is free, and the code is MIT licensed on GitHub. An optional one-time Pro upgrade ($14) adds smart formatting, code dictation, templates and per-app profiles.

It is an APK from GitHub for now, not on the Play Store yet, and it needs a 64-bit phone with Android 8 or newer. Honest feedback is the most useful thing you can give: what it mishears, which apps it struggles with, and what would make you switch to it for everyday typing.
