Hey Product Hunt community! I'm Mingwei, a biomedical engineering doctorate candidate at Tsinghua University.
I built VoxelVision because medical imaging data is inherently 3D, but we've been navigating it with mice and flat screens for decades. visionOS finally gives us a medium where the interaction matches the data — so I built a native viewer from scratch.
The interesting engineering challenge: real-time GPU volume slicing on a mobile chip. The entire rendering pipeline is Metal compute shaders sampling a 3D texture, running at interactive frame rates on Apple Vision Pro. No server, no cloud — everything happens
on-device.
This is a solo project — design, Metal shaders, RealityKit integration, ARKit tracking, 14-language localization, App Store submission, all one person. Took about 6 months from first line of code to launch.
