VM Explorer
Lightweight self-hosted web control plane for Linux VMs
Fast, self-hosted remote Linux VM explorer with sub-second telemetry, native ANSI PTY terminal, and unattended background HTTPS cross-VM transfers.
I'm a solo developer and excited to share VM Explorer with you.
It all started with the most basic frustration—moving files in and out of my remote Linux VMs. I was constantly running ad-hoc Python HTTP servers just to download and upload files because I hate juggling SFTP and scp. But I still had to SSH in separately to tail logs, restart services, and check disk usage. I thought: why not have one clean, single place for all of this?
That’s how VM Explorer was born: a lightweight, self-hosted web control plane for managing Linux servers from any browser or phone without terminal headaches.
Key features:
• Full File Manager: Drag-and-drop uploads, instant downloads, file editor, and direct HTTPS transfers.
• Split Web Terminal: Up to 4 active PTY terminal splits running concurrently.
• Process & Network Monitoring: Real-time resource usage and per-process network bandwidth stats.
• 100% Free Solo Tier: No registration, no payments, no license keys, and no telemetry.
You can test drive the full interface without installing anything via the live interactive demo on our site:
I'd love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and any features you'd like to see next!
