Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I've used vim for years, and I still stop and wonder what a command like "ayy or ci( actually does. Classic cheat sheets are great to look at, but they don't answer that question. So I built one that does. How it works: type a key combination into the box at the bottom, and every piece of it lights up on the sheet: - d3w → the d operator, the count, the w motion - ci( → change + the ( ) text object - "ayy → named register + yank line - :set nohls → the hlsearch option row While you're still typing (say, just g), everything that could come next is softly highlighted, so you can discover commands you didn't know existed. Some combos like :42 or vi" are recognized as a whole and explained in plain words. A few things I'm happy with: - Shareable links: vim.mioe.app/?q=d3w opens the sheet with the command already highlighted. Handy for answering "how do I..." questions - Works offline and installs to your home screen (PWA) - Light and dark themes, zoom and pan, English / Russian / Ukrainian / French - Written in Rust with egui and compiled to WebAssembly The layout is based on the vimcheatsheet.com poster. If you'd like the original on your wall, you can buy the print there: http://vimcheatsheet.com It's open source, and new combos live in a simple TOML file, so PRs are very welcome. I'd love to hear which commands you'd add, or what confused you most when you were learning vim.
