I've always loved motion graphics, but every time I opened After Effects I bounced right off it. The learning curve is brutal, and the "easy" alternatives just hand you rigid templates you can't really change. I wanted something in the middle: the power of a real motion editor, without needing years of practice to use it. The problem I kept hitting was the gap between "I know exactly what I want" and "I can actually make it." A founder needs a product demo, a creator needs an intro animation, but neither wants to learn keyframes and easing curves. So I built Vidmoline: you describe what you want (or paste your app's URL) and it generates a real, editable animated video right in the browser. Not a flat template, but actual layers, keyframes, effects, and voiceover you can go in and tweak. The approach evolved a lot. Early on I assumed the AI just had to nail a good first draft. But people wanted to keep editing after, so the editor ended up mattering as much as the generation. I also added a step where the AI reviews its own rendered frames before it calls a video "done," which jumped the quality up noticeably. The biggest shift in thinking was realizing the goal was never to replace After Effects. It was to let the 90% of people who'll never learn it make something great anyway.
