VibeOffice.work

A classic office suite in your browser. Nothing uploaded.

VibeOffice is an office suite that runs entirely in your browser: Quire for documents, Ledger for spreadsheets, Lectern for presentations. • Familiar: classic menus, toolbars and task panes, or a modern ribbon. • Built for lossless editing: opendocx, xlsx andpptx files from colleagues and save them back without losing what you didn't touch. • Private: no server, no upload, no sign-in. • Installable & self-hostable: add it as an app and open files from your file manager, self-hostable by one line.

I’ve long wanted a solution that allows me to work in a browser at any time without relying on cloud services. After consuming a massive number of tokens, I’ve implemented most common Office features—excluding VBA—including but not limited to: • Embedded tables • WordArt • Semi-transparent overlays • Various PowerPoint animations, SmartArt, and charts • English spell-checking (it was too annoying, so I set it to be disabled by default) • Direct Markdown editing and conversion between Markdown and DOCX (Markdown files with image attachments are automatically zipped) Features currently missing but planned for future implementation: • Embedded videos and third-party fonts in PowerPoint • Support for the legacy DOC format I opted for the Office 2003 UI style, which I personally prefer: every function is placed in a clear, accessible spot on the toolbar, eliminating the need to dig through menus. When opening a Kimi-generated 36MB PPTX file containing various animations, charts, and gradient overlays; it plays and edits perfectly. A DOCX document with over 500 pages opens in just a few seconds. For products like this, the most critical capability is "lossless editing"—an area where projects like LibreOffice often struggle. If you open and edit a DOCX/PPTX file in LibreOffice and then open it in MS Office, you often find that many features have been lost. Fundamentally, this happens because these products convert DOCX/PPTX files into internal data structures and then "export" them back out upon saving. Naturally, any unsupported features are lost in the process, making the document difficult to edit in MS Office later. I am currently burning a lot of tokens to implement a "lossless editing" solution. The core idea is to keep contents/attributes on the original DOCX/PPTX document tree whenever possible, modifying only the specific areas that need changes while preserving as many "unexpected" or obscure attributes as possible. Currently, my test suite (comprising 2,800 DOCX and 800 PPTX files) achieves "lossless editing" on about 90% of the documents: features not yet supported—such as VBA macros—are preserved after editing. Open directly in Chrome or iOS Safari to use; it can also be installed as a PWA on your desktop or home screen: ↓↓↓↓ https://vibeoffice.work You can self-host it simply by using a static HTTP server to serve the public directory. A docker image will also be available soon to make self-hosting even more easier. Feel free to report any issues on the GitHub: https://github.com/tcchen2026/Vi...
