I'm the maker behind Verstats. I work in financial risk analysis and have a background in software engineering. While building automated trading strategies on the side, I ran into a massive wall with MetaTrader 4 and 5: their built-in strategy reports haven't really changed in two decades.
The biggest issue with default MT4/5 reports is that they only show a single historical trade sequence. A backtest might show an 8% max drawdown, but if market variance orders those exact same trades slightly differently, your true drawdown probability could easily jump to 25%. To get proper risk-adjusted returns or run stress tests, you usually have to manually export massive log files into Python or Excel. It is slow, repetitive, and clunky.
