A while back I made the exact dumb decision I'd already learned not to make. Afterwards I could even recite the lesson from last time - it just didn't show up when I actually needed it. That gap between knowing how I want to act and what I do in the moment is the whole reason Vernoly exists.
When we're stuck on something, we google it, ask ChatGPT, or text a friend. But all of that hands you the average - what worked for strangers, or what your friend would do. None of it knows what actually matters to you.
So Vernoly does something narrower. You write down your own principles - the things you've genuinely learned - and before a real decision it pulls up the ones that apply. Sometimes two of them flatly disagree ("finish what you start" vs. "cut your losses early"), and instead of faking a clean answer, it just shows you the conflict so you can choose on purpose.
You don't fill it with a giant questionnaire. The codex grows as you go - a short onboarding, working through a situation when you're stuck (the methods are borrowed from CBT, Gestalt and existential therapy), the occasional reframe when life proves an old rule wrong.
I've been building this solo for a long time, so it's genuinely strange to finally put it out here. If you give it a go, I'd really like to hear where it feels off — especially that moment right before a decision, where it's supposed to earn its keep.
