Vercel Shop

Open-source Shopify storefront built for AI agents

Vercel Shop is an open-source Next.js storefront template for Shopify, built so people, search engines and AI agents can all shop the same store. Product pages are served as machine-readable data, and the store exposes Universal Commerce Protocol tools over MCP so agents can search, build a cart and get a checkout link. It ships with a built-in shopping assistant and skills that let coding agents set up and customize the store. Built on Shopify’s rebuilt Hydrogen SDK.

Hi everyone,

I'm hunting Vercel Shop, which became generally available today.

Most e-commerce storefronts are designed for two audiences: human shoppers and search engines. AI agents are increasingly a third, yet they still have to parse page layouts to understand what's for sale, what it costs and whether it's in stock. Vercel Shop is an open-source Next.js storefront template for Shopify that treats agents as first-class shoppers.

Key capabilities:

- Machine-readable product pages: the same URL serves a visual page to people and structured product data (price, availability, variants) to agents.

- Agent commerce via the Universal Commerce Protocol: exposed over MCP on the merchant's own domain, so agents can search the catalog, build a cart and generate a checkout link.

- Built-in shopping assistant: shares the cart with the standard storefront, so shoppers can move between browsing and conversation seamlessly.

- Agent-ready codebase: bundled skills guide coding agents such as Claude Code and Cursor through setup, customization and updates.

- Proven foundation: Next.js on Vercel, built on Shopify's rebuilt Hydrogen SDK, with checkout, payments and order management handled by Shopify.

You can see it in production at vercel.store, Vercel's own merch store.

I'd be interested to hear from teams running Shopify today: is agent-driven shopping already on your roadmap, and what would you need to see before enabling it?
