Verbara

The professional network for language learning.

Verbara is a social network for language learners and teachers. Learners and verified teachers (approved after an interview) post, comment, and reply to each other, with voice as the primary way to interact instead of text. Users can also book live speaking practice sessions via video call. The platform is free; teachers can optionally sell recorded courses as subscriptions. Our goal is simple: help people stop just studying a language and start actually using it.

Top comment

Hi Product Hunt! I'm Hani, founder of Verbara. After years working in EdTech and language-learning apps, I built Verbara because most language apps quietly let you avoid the one thing that actually makes you fluent: opening your mouth and talking to a real person. I want mistakes to be part of the learning process, not something people try to hide. So Verbara is built around voice, not text. You post and reply by voice. Verified teachers (who go through a real interview to get their badge) can jump in with feedback right on your posts. And when you want more structured practice, you can book a live speaking session with another learner or a teacher. Everything's free — the only paid part is recorded courses, which teachers can choose to sell as subscriptions (or give away free). I'm a solo founder, and Verbara is in pre-launch — I'm actively refining the UI/UX, so this is a great time to shape where it goes. Would love to hear what you think, especially if you've tried to learn a language and gotten stuck avoiding the "speaking" part like I did for years. Happy to answer anything about the product, or what's coming next. Thanks for checking out Verbara! 💜
