USFoodinJapan.com

One-stop search tool for American food in Japan for tourists

A free one-stop search tool that uses OpenStreetMaps, CARTO, Leaflet, and Esri to help solo tourists, Americans, or picky eaters find familiar fast food chains during their Japan trips. Instead of individually searching for chains, this displays the leading 8 U.S. chains in Japan by location on a minimap with direction buttons to help with wayfinding. Can search by current location or by train station or landmarks. Also includes a Konbini Finder tab for more food searching.

I built this for myself because whenever I researched hotels for my upcoming Japan trips, I have to locate the nearest McDonald's and nearest Starbucks because I am not a foodie. I stick to familiar chains being a solo traveler because I don't want to risk a surprise stomach issue or allergy, then have to navigate Japan's healthcare system alone. This app can help other picky eaters in Japan like me, or solo travelers, or families with small children who only eat chicken nuggets.
