I built UpRank after noticing outbid.lol
So I made the payment the entire mechanic instead
of hiding it. Your rank is your lifetime total.
Someone pays a dollar more, you drop. No editorial
judgement, no voting, no algorithm.
Two things I didn't expect:
The top spot is never safe, so people come back and
top up - and you only pay the difference from what
you've already put in. That turned into recurring
revenue with no subscription.
And every listing shows its real click count
publicly, so you can see exactly what a spot is
worth before buying one.
Built with Next.js, MongoDB and Pocketsflow.
Happy to answer anything - including whether this
is a good idea at all, which I'm still not sure
about.
