Unhype

Mute the AI hype across X, LinkedIn, Reddit & News Websites

It started as a dumb little counter. I just wanted to know how many posts about AI were getting shoved into my feed every day. It hit 500+. So I built the off switch. Unhype is a free Chrome extension that hides posts and articles about AI across X, LinkedIn, Reddit, Hacker News, and news, then quietly hands your feed back to actual humans. Optional 5-second breath before you peek at anything you've hidden. Launching soon. Tap notify if your timeline could use a little less hype.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 This started as a dumb little counter. I just wanted to know how many posts about AI were getting shoved into my feed every day, so I built a thing that counted them. I kept re-checking it because I was sure it was bugged. It wasn't. It was 500+ by morning the first day. Job-pocalypse takes, AGI countdowns, threads about ChatGPT written by ChatGPT. That's when it hit me how much of my attention was being rented out to other people's AI opinions. So I made it start hiding them instead of just counting, so I could actually take a break. That became Unhype. What it does: Hides posts and articles about AI across X, LinkedIn, Reddit, Hacker News, and news. One toggle. Keeps the counter that started it all, so you can watch your own number climb (it's unhinged). A little weekly chart that gets greener the more you mute. Weirdly calming. To peek at a hidden post, you breathe for 5 seconds first. Annoyingly effective. It's free, everything stays on your device (no accounts, no tracking), and it's open about exactly what it hides. And yes, I'm aware of the irony of launching an anti-AI-hype tool on possibly the most AI-saturated site on the internet. Consider it a peace offering. 🙏 Would genuinely love feedback, especially on what else it should catch. Thanks for checking it out.
