UGLYPEAR AI
Document Compression & RAG Data Engineering Platform
SmartSlim compresses PDFs, Office docs, images, video and audio entirely on your machine — nothing is uploaded. Drag files in, pick a level, get up to 90% smaller files. Free for files under 10 MB. Mac, Windows, Linux.
[ORIGIN — pick one of the three lines below, or write your own in 1-2 sentences:]
A) It started when a client rejected a 48 MB proposal deck because it bounced off their mail server, and every fix I found meant uploading the deck to someone else's computer.
B) I used to keep four different apps on my dock: one for images, one for PDFs, one for video, one for Office files. Four apps, four sets of settings, and two of them wanted my files on their servers.
C) I work with scanned contracts. Thousands of them.
Every "compress this" tool I tried either wanted them uploaded or mangled the text layer.
If you've ever hit an attachment limit two minutes before a deadline, you know the feeling. And the workaround is always the same trade — hand your files to a stranger's server to get them smaller.
SmartSlim runs entirely on your machine. Drag in a PDF, a .docx, a TIFF, an MP4 — pick a level, and it comes out smaller. No upload step exists, because there's no server in the loop.
Two things I think make it different from other compressors you've seen here:
One, coverage. Most tools in this space do images and video well. We also handle PDF, OFD and Office documents — including OFD, the Chinese national document format that almost nothing else touches.
Two, resource caps. You can pin CPU to 10-100% and memory to 512 MB-4 GB. Batch-compressing 200 scans shouldn't make the rest of your machine unusable, and with SmartSlim it doesn't.
[OPTIONAL OFFER — only if you decide to run one:] For the PH community: [OFFER DETAILS]. No strings — it applies to anyone who visits from here.
We're a small team and this is our first launch, so I'd genuinely rather hear what's broken than hear that it's nice. If you try it on a file type we handle badly, tell me which one — that's the most useful thing you can give me.
I'll be here all day answering everything. AMA.
Thanks for taking a look.

UGLYPEAR AI was hunted by Uglypear Data. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
