Typical

Detect fonts on any website to reveal their props & metadata

Typical makes it easy to detect & profile fonts on any website, revealing their properties & metadata. It reads what is actually rendered on the page, not just what CSS declares, and reveals the true font identity directly from the binary itself. It is useful for designers auditing typography, developers debugging font stacks, and anyone curious about the type they are reading. Typical runs entirely locally. No analytics, no servers. Nothing about the pages you visit ever leaves your browser.

Top comment

I wanted a font inspector that tells you the truth about what your browser is actually rendering on screen, not just what the CSS claims. At first, I thought font detection was mostly a CSS problem. It turns out CSS can be misleading. The real signal lives in the rendered font itself and the binary behind it. Typical reads the actual font file to uncover the canonical font name, foundry, license, classification, and other metadata. CSS is treated as a hint. The font file is the source of truth.
