Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Garvit, the developer behind TypeForge. As a CS student, I spend a massive chunk of my day at a keyboard. But I noticed a frustrating problem with a lot of web-based typing practice tools: when you start pushing 100+ WPM, standard React state updates often cause micro-stutters and input lag. It completely breaks your flow. I built TypeForge to over-engineer a solution to that exact problem. The approach and evolution: My primary goal was true zero-lag typing. I ended up building a custom Next.js engine utilizing React.memo and O(1) Set lookups to guarantee sub-millisecond keystroke registration. The biggest evolution happened on the backend. Originally, I used a heavy Redis polling architecture to calculate scores. To make it infinitely scalable and keep the main thread unblocked, I completely ripped that out and replaced it with a serverless, event-driven webhook architecture using Upstash QStash. Now, all your WPM, accuracy, and streaks are processed concurrently in the background while you instantly move to the next lesson. Features include: 🎓 Academy: Progressive, guided lessons to build muscle memory. ⚔️ Arena: Live, timed testing environments. 🌓 System-Aware UI: Seamless Light/Dark mode. I would absolutely love for you to try it out. Try to break the keyboard engine with your fastest speeds, and let me know your thoughts on the UI or the serverless architecture. I’ll be hanging out in the comments all day to answer questions!
