Hi PH! I'm the maker. I kept switching between a Mac and a Windows box, and every downloader I liked was either Mac-only, Windows-only, or made me paste links one at a time. So I built the tool I wanted. TubeTaker is a desktop app with a built-in browser: open a feed or playlist and it detects every video on the page — select, queue, download in bulk. Files arrive auto-named via visual templates (title, channel, resolution, date…) and organized per site. Under the hood: yt-dlp + ffmpeg with a self-updating engine, so site breakages get fixed without app releases. Tauri 2 + Rust, ~40 MB installer, no Electron, no account — all data stays local. It's free during the open beta — grab an activation code on the download page. macOS is live; the Windows build is in final testing (say hi if you want to test it). Honest limitations: site coverage is still growing — send me links that don't get detected and I'll add them. No browser extension by design: sniffing happens inside the app's own isolated browser, so your main browser and its cookies stay untouched. I'd genuinely rather have your criticism than your upvotes — what's missing or broken?
