It's a directory of 541 verified charities across 27 countries, and every entry links straight to the regulator's own file — the IRS 990, UK Charity Commission accounts, Canada's T3010, or audited annual reports. No invented rating, no fees, no donation pass-through. You read the source and donate on the charity's own site. Bilingual English and Russian throughout.
Charity Navigator dropped its overhead-ratio score in 2023 because nonprofits had learned to game it. That stuck with me. You can game a number someone made up. You can't game a tax filing.
So TrustGive doesn't grade anything. Every "verified" mark links to the actual regulator document, and you decide for yourself. It never handles money — you donate on the charity's own site.
Worth being upfront: I didn't write most of the code, Claude did. My part was picking the problem, setting the legal boundaries, reviewing each change, and deciding what to keep. Around 10 days, most of it spent reading and judging the output rather than typing.
