TripSitter

Find psychedelic coaches near you.

A few years ago, when I first started exploring psychedelics, I discovered something surprising. Finding mushrooms was easy. Finding someone experienced, trustworthy, and grounded enough to sit with you during a difficult or meaningful experience was almost impossible. That's why I built TripSitter. It's a vetted directory of local practitioners who want to help. We facilitate the meeting, the provider and the patient do the rest.

I went through clinical depression in 2018 and nearly ended it all. A friend paid for a mushroom trip in New York where I spent most of the evening angry at the world until the practitioner in the room told me a story: A samurai entered a temple where a monk was sitting. The samurai was bloody, his boots caked in mud. His sword was at the ready. “Monk! Teach me about heaven and hell!” The monk looked up slowly. He locked eyes with the warrior.  The monk smirked. “You wish to know the secrets of heaven and hell?” replied the monk at last. “You are disgusting. Your armor covered in rust. Your sword is a toy and you are so weak to come to a place of learning to experience something your tiny brain could never comprehend on its own. You are filth.” The samurai drew and readied himself to kill the monk. No one would talk to him like this. “This is hell,” said the monk as the sword began to fall. In that moment the samurai stopped the sword's descent. He dropped to to his side. "And this is heaven," said the monk. In that moment I learned enough to want to keep living. If this app can help more people like me in that moment then I'll consider it a success.

Who hunted TripSitter?

TripSitter was hunted by John Biggs. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
