Trime

Timebox three priorities a day. Compare plan with actual.

Trime is a timeboxing planner for working on one goal at a time. Each day, pick three priority tasks from your Inbox and give each one a block of time. Press Start when you begin, and Trime puts the time you actually spent next to the time you planned. Over time, you’ll see where your hours really go, and your plans start to match how your days actually run. Every task you finish becomes a step toward your goal.

Trime grew out of the way I used my paper planner. I used to write down my tasks and draw timeboxes to plan each day. Deciding what to do and when to do it helped me remember things and feel more organized. But my days rarely went as planned. Tasks took longer than I expected, and I often picked the easy or enjoyable ones while putting off what mattered most. The longer my list grew, the easier it became to lose sight of my priorities. Eventually, I realized I needed to work on my habits as much as my plans. I wasn’t very good at estimating how long tasks would take or noticing how I actually spent my time. That’s why I built Trime. Trime starts with one goal, so the tasks you plan stay connected to something you want to achieve. I deliberately limited planning to three priorities to encourage people(myself included) to commit to the important work they might otherwise avoid. It also tracks the time you actually spend on each task, letting you see how your day compares with your plan. At the end of the day, you can review what you finished, where your time went, and what took longer than expected. Those insights help you make the next day’s plan more realistic. I designed Trime for people working toward a specific goal or project, especially those who struggle to follow through. I hope that using it regularly can also teach practical self-management skills: choosing priorities, understanding your limits, and making plans you can carry out. Next, I plan to add a journal for reflection and more ways to fine-tune your plans. I also want to keep talking with the people using Trime and learn where they get stuck. Over time, I hope it becomes a place where people learn to plan better and build the habits to follow through.
