Top spot

Pay more. Rank higher. That’s it.

Top Spot is a public leaderboard where your rank is determined by how much you pay. Pick a nickname, choose any amount, and claim your position. Pay more to rank higher; if someone overtakes you, you move down. No prizes, lotteries or rewards — just pure internet status.

Top comment

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I built Top Spot as a deliberately simple internet experiment. I wanted to answer one question: does online status have value even when there’s nothing else to win? So I created a public leaderboard where anyone can choose a nickname, pay any amount, and take a position based purely on how much they paid. No prize. No lottery. No reward. Just status. I’m especially curious about one thing: do you think this only becomes interesting once the site gets traffic, or is the idea itself enough to make people compete? I’d love honest feedback — including criticism.

Who hunted Top spot?

Top spot was hunted by Luca Toscano. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
