Hi Product Hunt 👋
I started working on Tone Keyboard because I kept coming back to a simple gap in digital communication.
We already have tools that catch spelling, typing and grammar mistakes. But a message can be perfectly written and still sound colder, sharper or more dismissive than the sender intended.
The same words can also land very differently depending on whether we're writing to a boss, colleague, partner, friend or someone we don't know.
That led us to the idea of Tone Intelligence — greater awareness of how a written message may be perceived depending on context and relationship.
Tone Keyboard is our attempt to bring that awareness to the place where the message is actually written: the keyboard.
It is a mobile system keyboard rather than a chatbot or destination writing app. It provides bounded assistance while you type, and the user always decides whether to use a suggestion.
Privacy has also shaped the product from the beginning. We deliberately designed Tone Keyboard around limited context rather than full conversation histories, contacts or long-term profiling.
We're launching with English, Spanish and Arabic on iOS and Android.
The question behind the whole project is simple:
How will it land?
When we launch here, I'd especially value feedback on two things: whether the idea of Tone Intelligence resonates with you, and whether having this kind of assistance directly in the keyboard feels more natural than switching to a separate writing tool.
