I built tondi because every clipping tool I tried wanted my whole recording uploaded to their servers, then billed me by the minute for the privilege of waiting in a queue. tondi does the same job on your Mac. Drop in a long video; it transcribes it locally with a timestamp on every word, scores each stretch of whole sentences — hook words, numbers, delivery, pace — and keeps the best moments that start on a real beginning instead of mid-thought. Captions are burned in, word by word, in your fonts and colours. You pick the shapes (9:16, 1:1, 4:5, 16:9) and get ordinary .mp4 files in a folder. Because nothing leaves the machine, there's nothing to meter. Free has no end date — three clips per video, as many videos as you like, small watermark. Pro is $10 a month or $100 a year: up to ten clips per video, batch mode, no watermark. What it doesn't do, so nobody is surprised: it needs an Apple Silicon Mac on macOS 13 or later — no Intel, no Windows yet. It doesn't track the speaker; a vertical clip shows the whole frame over a blurred background. It works from a file, not a YouTube link. And the moment-picker is a scoring system I've published in full (tondi.app/how-tondi-picks-clips), not a language model — it can't be surprised by a great line that doesn't look like one. A 58-minute podcast takes about six and a half minutes on an M3 MacBook Air. I'd genuinely like to know what it picks from your footage, and where it gets it wrong.
