Watch the videos in your Telegram chats on your TV

TMPlayer is a free, open source player for the videos already in your own Telegram chats. Sign in on your TV with a QR code and the videos in your chats, groups and channels become a library: grouped into series, with resume, subtitles, audio tracks and the next episode starting on its own. It plays while it downloads, so there is no waiting. Runs on Android TV, Fire TV, Android phones, Windows, macOS and Linux, in 21 languages. No ads, no extra account. Unofficial, not affiliated with Telegram.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Nevil, the developer of TMPlayer. Telegram is where a lot of people keep their videos: family clips, course recordings, talks, things friends share in groups. But there is no proper Telegram app for a TV, and casting from a phone is clumsy. TMPlayer fixes that one thing: it signs in as you (scan a QR code from your phone, no password typed on the TV) and turns the videos already in your chats into something you can browse with a remote. A few things I cared about: - It starts playing in seconds and keeps downloading while you watch. - Episodes are grouped into series, it remembers where you stopped and plays the next one on its own. - It runs on cheap 1 GB TV sticks, not just high-end boxes. - Same app on Android phones, Windows, macOS and Linux, in 21 languages. - Free and open source (GPL-3.0), no ads, no TMPlayer account, nothing in between you and Telegram. It's unofficial and not affiliated with Telegram. Everything is on GitHub, and I ship an update roughly every week. I'd love to hear what you'd want on your TV next.

Who hunted TMPlayer?

TMPlayer was hunted by Nevil Krishna K. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
