TinyTraces
A calm iPad tracing app for early writers
A calm iPad tracing app for kids, toddlers, and preschoolers to practice ABC letters, numbers, pre-writing shapes, and handwriting.
I built TinyTraces because I could not find the tracing app I wanted for my daughter.
Most tracing apps we tried felt built for engagement first: animations, rewards, sounds, and little hooks to keep kids tapping. That did not fit our home. We are careful with screen time, but I still believe technology can help when it is calm, focused, and respectful of attention.
TinyTraces is a simple iPad tracing app for early writers. It supports Apple Pencil, letters, numbers, and shapes, with trace validation designed to guide without making handwriting feel rigid or game-like.
This project also gave me a practical way to explore agentic engineering, Apple Intelligence, and privacy-first product design in a real family use case.
TinyTraces Pro is free until July 4 with code LAUNCH2026.
I would love feedback from parents, makers, and anyone interested in calmer kids’ software.

TinyTraces was hunted by Arihant Sethia. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
