I built TinyTimeouts after noticing a pattern: I'd install a break reminder app, dismiss its notifications for two weeks, then uninstall it. The notifications were easy to ignore because they had no authority - but my calendar? I obey my calendar all day long.
So instead of another notification, TinyTimeouts books breaks as real calendar events. It connects to Google Calendar or Outlook, finds the gaps between your meetings, and schedules short, concrete breaks - "10+ lunges", "Walk 10+ mins", "5 min guided breathing". Every physical activity gets you out of the chair, and every title tells you exactly what to do, so there's no deciding in the moment.
A few details I spent way too long on:
• Breaks can show as "busy" - so coworkers can't book over them. Your calendar defends your break for you.
• A weighted variety system, so you don't get the same break twice in a row.
• Custom activities - type "10 squats" once and it joins the rotation.
• Work schedule + a cooldown setting, so breaks only land on your working days and hours, as often (or rarely) as you want.
• Scheduling happens in your browser - we never store your calendar data on our servers.
