Hello everyone, Excited to launch our product with you all today 🚀 tl;dr ------ timing is a personal productivity app that brings together your calendar, to-do list, and reminders in a beautiful mobile-first experience. It can be optimized to match your unique needs based on how you choose to navigate life! Most calendars are basic appointment-keeping tools but ironically they’re not great for planning our time. So we turned to Personal Knowledge Management software to help us manage the daily grind. But as much as we enjoyed the flexibility (at first), maintenance became difficult and we noticed a crucial element missing – time! So — we decided to build a modern-day planner that embraces the flexibility of PKMs while keeping things straightforward like a calendar. Everyone’s relationship with time varies, but one thing is clear, the when matters. This is why we’ve built a product founded on one notion: “timing is everything”. Our core beliefs: ------------------ 💪 Plans should be flexible (something about time being fluid) – we wanted to build something that made the input side as frictionless and efficient as possible. So we made every field optional except the title. You can add a date to create a reminder, add a time to make it an event, add a person to make it a meeting, etc (and in reverse order too!). If you don't know "when exactly", schedule it loosely as an "anytime" task for a given day or week, or just leave it as is... "unscheduled". The important thing is that it's captured and you can reference it contextually when you need it. 👨‍🎤 Everyone's life is unique – color-coding wasn't cutting it for us so we added support for optional fields like hashtags and emojis to bring out a bit more... ahem, color :) Later we decided to build out the library by adding support for less common fields like energy-level, time estimate, priority... to more advanced options like Eisenhower Matrix and LNO-framework. These fields are great for filtering purposes and getting insights into how you spend time, giving you a unique perspective on your future (or past) events. Decide which of these work for you and turn everything else off. 🧘‍♂️ Inspiration built right in – it's about time our calendars stepped up and did a little more to keep us engaged. If all we ever capture in them are things we "have to do" or worse, what other people need us to do, then it's no wonder we don't like our calendars. The modern calendar should help us discover what's happening around us and recommend things to plan. At the same time, it should help us discover what's happening within us and help us prioritize our mental and emotional well-being. The equation is simple, we are the sum of how we spend our time. A bit about us and why we built this ------------------------------------------ We're childhood friends that now have our own (small) children. We discovered the web together back in the 90s and decided to team up once more after 20 years, and across an 8-hr time difference, to work on something we believed should exist in the world. We spoke to so many people on this journey of discovery and we were amazed at the diversity in how people manage (or mismanage) their time. It's a constant struggle and there is no perfect system, but our tools can certainly go further in helping us be more intentional about how we plan our time. The early feedback we've received has been highly encouraging and we thank all our early users for helping us shape the product. What we hope we can do with this community --------------------------------------------------- If any of what we said above resonates with you, we'd love your input. We are still very early on in our journey and have a lot of things we still want to build. Either leave us a comment below or find us on twitter, discord, or email. We'd love to chat with each of you... timing.is/open if you want to schedule something in the future, or visit timing.is/now to hop on a zoom with us (we'll try to be as available throughout the day as possible based on engagement). Cheers...
