Hey Product Hunt, We’re a tiny remote team from Toronto who previously built the VPN, TunnelBear. Today, we’re excited to share a project in an entirely new space. Throw is a social activity for remote teams that was born out of the desire to never attend another virtual happy hour. ❌ - As we scaled TunnelBear, our team became more distributed and getting people together in person only happened once every few months. We tried all the things to build remote culture: Donuts, ice breaker bots, virtual happy hours (ugh), random “Who’s baby photo is this” games at all hands and even a virtual escape room. These team building things all took time to coordinate, plan and host; but most of them got a “meh” reaction from the team. If we’re honest, remote team building has always felt a bit corny so we understand the response. We felt like we could build a social activity that worked better for startups. Something that was fun without that “required work fun” vibe. ✅ We’d like to introduce you to Throw, it’s a social event for remote teams that: - Has a growing collection of social games that take 5 minutes to play - Has a vibe that’s more “that was hilarious” and less “ugh, required work fun” - Has people play in small groups so nobody needs to host - Has built-in audio so you can talk as you play - Has calendar invites and quick join links that make it easy to plan - Has a free option where small teams can play for free (< 7 people) We’d love for you to give it a try with your team and let us know what you think!
