Threelane
Open-source screen + multi-cam recorder & editor
Recording and editing multi-cam demos is fiddly, and every tool that makes it smooth is paid. Threelane is the open-source alternative: screen + webcam + your phone as a second camera over WiFi, multi-track editor with zoom lanes that follow your cursor and trim lanes that skip bad takes, portrait/landscape/square layouts, export to MP4. Runs locally no cloud, no account for Mac · Windows · Linux. Free forever.
Hey PH 👋 Maker here.
I record dev demos constantly launch videos, feature walkthroughs, tutorials. The honest problem: getting a polished multi-cam recording out takes real effort, and every tool that actually makes the effort manageable costs. For solo devs shipping demos every week, those subscriptions stack up fast.
So I built Threelane as the open-source version.
- Screen + webcam + your phone as a second camera, paired by QR code over WiFi. The phone runs a PWA - no App Store install.
- Multi-track editor with zoom lanes that follow your cursor, trim lanes that skip bad takes, portrait / landscape / square layouts.
- Exports to MP4 . Everything runs locally, no cloud, no account.
- Ships on Mac, Windows, and Linux.
Free forever. Unsigned for now, so Mac needs right-click → Open and Windows will SmartScreen-warn you cert budget is on the v0.5 shortlist.
Open question: what recording or editing workflow do you keep fighting with existing tools? That's what I'm building next.

Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
